Before zombies were the television rage, vampires were the preferred undead choice in Hollywood. However, this Alan Ball creation is uniquely done. While there were the obvious horror and fantasy foundations to the show, it was also about acceptance, social conscience and justice. Plus, Anna Paquin was quite good as the star of a series that earned both Emmy and Golden Globe love.
