At 11 years of age, Elton won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. It was here where Elton became polished from a classical standpoint. His mother — while quirky in her own right — enhanced Elton’s musical background by gifting him albums from famed musicians (such as Elvis). Though his parents divorced when he was 14, Elton’s musical passions drove him towards a rather special opportunity.
