2005 — X&Y — Coldplay

X&Y might not be Coldplay’s best record, but in this given year it stood out above all albums that can fall under the rock category — despite it leaning more to the pop side. It wasn’t necessarily the bands fault it was being overplayed throughout the world and frontman Chris Martin seemed to be everywhere, but X&Y is a relatively complete album. This might sound strange, but “Speed of Sound” is one of the group’s more underrated works while the crescendo in “Fix You” remains something special.
