The Apology

The next day, Kelly offered this apology on television:
“I want to begin with two words: I’m sorry. I defended the idea [of blackface], saying that as long it was respectful and part of a Halloween costume, that it seemed OK. Well, I was wrong, and I am sorry.”
The network accepted the apology. However, it also took Kelly’s show off the air, and instead showed reruns the rest of the week. Less than a week later, the network made an even bigger announcement.
