Walters was born in September of 1929 to parents Dena and Lou. She had three siblings, and spent the early part of her life in New York. As fate would have it, Walters got introduced to the show business world at a very young age.

Walters’ father was particularly involved in the development of entertainment within New York city. This included being a Broadway producer, and also working as a booking agent. It got a point where a young Walters would spend hours hanging out with singers and dancers in night clubs. While it was certainly no place for a child, Walters began to gain an appreciation for working a steady job.
