In 1973, Trebek decided to leave his native country in favor of the place where the biggest television stars are made: Hollywood. However, Trebek’s career didn’t take off until sitcom star and fellow Canadian Alan Thicke took a chance on Alex. Alan tapped Trebek to audition for a new game show he was involved with called The Wizards of Odds.
