In April 2017, The New York Times released a story which stated that O’Reilly and Fox News had settled five lawsuits against O’Reilly (stemming from sexual harassment). A sixth lawsuit came from a former Fox News legal analyst (whom had been on O’Reilly’s show repeatedly in the past). As the settlements were reported, things for O’Reilly took a massive turn for the worse.
