19. Beach Games (Season 3, Episode 22)
“I just wanna lie on the beach and eat hot dogs. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
As is his way, Michael goes all in at the slightest glimmer of a life change. He sells his condo and uses a team building beach trip as a kind of gladiatorial showdown among the staff of Dunder Mifflin. The goal is to determine who will succeed him as regional manager once he goes to New York. Caddyshack director Harold Ramis injects what could have been a gimmicky episode with his trademark blend of slapstick and character work.
