2. Dinner Party (Season 4, Episode 9)
“You know, Pam, in Spain, they often don’t even start eating until midnight.”
This 22-minute episode is pretty much the nightmare of every human being who prefers not to see their co-workers outside the office. Over a few glasses of wine, an uncomfortable album listening session, and (possibly) poisoned osso bucco, we uncomfortably watch Jan and Michael’s relationship implode. What makes “Dinner Party” an all-timer isn’t how uncomfortable it is (and good lord, “Dinner Party” is uncomfortable) but just how recognizable that discomfort is.
