3. The Injury (Season 2, Episode 12)
“I stepped onto the grill and it clamped down on my foot. That’s it. I don’t see what’s so hard to believe about that.”
“The Injury” begins with bang, boasting perhaps the funniest cold opening in the show’s history. Michael calls the office in ‘agony’ having burned his foot on his George Foreman grill. The episode — written by Mindy Kaling, directed by Bryan Gordon — is an absurd chapter that also happens to perfectly encapsulate everything that made The Office truly great. This episode in particular has an uncanny ability to make you laugh at a puke joke then tear up at a small, warm moment.
