Though Bill Cosby’s once wholesome and respectable image has been tarnished in recent years because of his own terrible actions, there is no denying the impact The Cosby Show had on its viewers and the overall landscape of television sitcoms. The program was one of the first to depict an African-American family of prominence and upper-middle class status. Thus, opening the door for more sitcoms to feature characters of similar ilk.
