4. The Mary Tyler Moore Show
While the legendary Moore – as the sweet but independently feisty Mary Richards – was the undisputed star, the long-running CBS hit was known for its development of her co-stars. From the bossy Lou Grant (Ed Asner), egotistical anchorman Ted Baxter (Ted Knight) and quirky friend Rhoda Morgenstern (Valerie Harper), MTM gave all its characters depth in some form. Plus, it had one of the greatest TV theme songs ever.
