Some of his highlights from basketball and track included being named the California Interscholastic Federation San Diego Section Player of the Year (basketball), and winning the Avocado League championship in the shot put. Despite some people believing he may be as good at basketball as he was at football, Seau knew he could dominate the gridiron in a way he couldn’t control the court. Capable of playing nearly every position on the field, Seau settled on playing linebacker and tight end. In leading his team to the San Diego 2A championship as a senior, Seau was deemed the Avocado League Offensive MVP.  Seau’s play was also recognized nationally, as Parade named Seau to its All-American team his senior year.
