In 2009, seven years after Dr. Omalu determined there was a link between CTE and football, the NFL failed to publicly admit the correlation. It wasn’t until March 2016, that the NFL testified that they believed there was a link between CTE and football. Numerous former NFL players have taken their lives in recent years, and the confirmed number of CTE cases continues to rise.
