Regularly referred to as the ‘Father of Bluegrass,’ Monroe worked at an oil refinery before entering the realm of country music. Monroe?s speedy delivery and rhythmic style greatly influenced the ‘bluegrass’ genre displayed today. The genre itself even takes its name from Monroe’s band, the Blue Grass Boys.
