The emergence of the country-pop crossover can be traced back to pioneers such as Twain. Born Eileen Regina Edwards, Twain began receiving national recognition with her second studio album, The Woman in Me. The album would sell 20 million copies worldwide and earn Twain her first Grammy Award. After a brief hiatus while nursing the effects of Lyme disease, Twain made her triumphant return in 2012, and has now collected five Grammy’s, 27 BMI Songwriter Awards, and has a star on both Canada’s and Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
