7. Black Flag

Henry Rollins wasn’t an original member but his addition in the early ’80s brought the band to prominence on the hardcore and straight-edge scene in California. However, founder, guitarist and songwriter Greg Ginn probably does not get enough credit for just how influential Black Flag was – and is – especially when it comes to the band’s creative sound that featured free form hints of heavy metal and jazz.
