Burton was only 24 when Metallica’s tour bus crashed on an icy road in rural Sweden in 1986, resulting in his death. What the hair-swinging, spaceship-sounding, bass playing Burton left behind was a legacy that still resonates today. He was a key cog to the success of Metallica’s first three albums – still its best works – that included the bassist?s memorable performances on “(Anesthesia) – Pulling Teeth,” “The Call of Ktulu” and “Orion.”
