Blauel was a recording engineer from Germany. Though married for four-and-a-half years, the two ultimately divorced. According to multiple tabloid reports, the two slept in separate bedrooms for the duration of the marriage. Elton’s sexuality had often been spoken about, and the divorce clearly led to the conclusion that he was gay rather than bisexual. This official declaration occurred in 1988.
