Elton’s outfits became more and more colorful under Reid’s influence. During the five-year relationship, Elton produced a number of iconic hits — such as ‘Candle in the Wind,’ ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,’ ‘Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting,’ ‘Crocodile Rock,’ and ‘Daniel’ (among others). While his professional life was taking off, a darkness was starting to grow within the shy singer from the Northwest London suburb of Pinner.
