Reid had this to say about his time with Elton (as he told a local Scotland newspaper):
“When I met Elton, I didn’t even realize his potential. I’ve never claimed to have discovered him. In fact, when he suggested I should manage him, I wasn’t enthusiastic. [Elton] was my first great love, and I was his.”
