Determining The Best Rock Album Every Year From 1994-2018

2002 — The Rising — Bruce Springsteen

Mostly written in the aftermath of 9/11, Springsteen returned to prominence with his first studio album in seven years. With the E Street Band behind him, “The Boss” gets personal through his reflections of a country changed forever. The title track can stand along with any other Springsteen classic, while “My City of Ruins” is both haunting and beautiful at the same time.
