Determining The Best Rock Album Every Year From 1994-2018

2011 — Wasting Light — Foo Fighters

Word has it that the band’s seventh studio album was recorded in Dave Grohl’s garage. Light hearkens back to FF’s earlier, edgier, more raw material that felt like a workout while listening. It might be the group’s best front-to-back since 1997’s The Colour and the Shape. “Walk” and “These Days” should be considered among the Foo Fighters’ top tracks of all-time, while “Rope” is one of its most unheralded.
