2009 — Backspacer — Pearl Jam

Timing proved to be on Pearl Jam’s side with Backspacer. There are better, more memorable, records in the band’s history, but in terms of true rock albums in 2009, Backspacer is tough to beat. Perhaps because it’s aged well almost a decade later. “Just Breathe” is a live staple and wedding favorite. “The Fixer,” meanwhile, takes us back to Pearl Jam’s hard and fast side of the Vs. or Vitalogy days. The hopeful-themed “Unthought Known” is one of the deeper jewels of the PJ catalog.
