2008 — The Sound of Madness — Shinedown
The album that elevated the Floridians’ status as one of the top hard-rock bands of the day. Perhaps its hardcore fans think Madness is a bit too mainstream (“If You Only Knew” is a ballad, of course). Yet, the record is extremely personal – especially for frontman Brent Smith – and exceptionally polished. “Devour” and the title track assault the ears to begin quite the entertaining ride.
