5. A Wrinkle in Time
Ava DuVernay’s adaptation of the epic fantasy was hyped like crazy when it came out, but mixed reactions caused the conversations around this movie to quickly dwindle. This is unfortunate because it didn’t just introduce us to an amazing new talent in Storm Reid, but it also was an updated take on a genre many of us grew up with in films like Labyrinth and The Never Ending Story. Whether you did or didn’t like this film, or missed it altogether, sit down with your kid and watch how the wonder of it all envelops them the way those classic fantasies did you.
