16. Support the Girls
Regina Hall is one seriously overlooked star, but you better start paying attention. After being a part of one of the biggest comedies in recent memory (Girls Trip), then taking a serious turn in The Hate U Give, she won raves for her performance in our next film on the list, Support the Girls. It may not have gotten any attention from the Academy, but Support the Girls received plenty of attention from Independent Spirit Awards, Gotham Independent Film Awards, and the New York Film Critics Circle Award. If that wasn’t impressive enough, President Obama actually named the film one of his favorites from 2018.
