A talented woman falls in love and finds stardom with the help of her spouse, only to surpass him in fame and come to find her love is actually holding her back… You could argue this is describing A Star is Born, but I’m actually talking about Colette, starring what could easily have been an Oscar nominated performance from Keira Knightley. There is a stark contrast in how Knightley’s titular character moves on from her marriage in comparison to Lady Gaga’s, and the former feels a lot more fitting in an era of female empowerment.
