In August of 2016, damning video footage of an incensed Depp was leaked to the media. The video, which Depp’s sources claim was ‘heavily edited,’ appears to capture Depp smashing a wine bottle and glass while arguing with Heard. On August 16, 2016, the two settled their divorce case. In addition, Heard withdrew her restraining order against Depp. According to TMZ, Depp agreed to pay Heard $7 million to settle the case.
“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love,” Heard and Depp said in a joint statement. “Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm.”
