In the immediate aftermath of Heard filing for divorce, it was revealed that Depp’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer, had passed away on May 20. A relationship that was at one time viewed as one of Hollywood’s best, Depp and Heard’s time together was about to be painted in an entirely different light. On May 27, a judge granted Heard a temporary restraining order against Depp after Heard and her lawyer provided the court with a photo showing Heard with numerous facial bruises – allegedly caused by Depp.
“I live in fear that Johnny will return to the residence unannounced to terrorize me, physically and emotionally,” Heard said in the documents, noting that she feels ‘extremely afraid’ of Depp and her safety.
