Barack Obama — the 44th President of the United States — was unquestionably the top choice for the state of Hawaii. President Obama became the first African-American President in the history of the country. Duly, he was also rooted in the state of Hawaii. Born in Honolulu, Obama spent most of his youth in the state. He graduated from Punahou High School before enrolling at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

Pound was born and raised in Hailey, Idaho before moving to Europe as an adult.
